Do I have to be a Nelson Mandela or Ghandi to Have Purpose?
As we enter our second chapter we spend an enormous amount of time trying to discover purpose and many of my students have asked the question on whether they have to be like Nelson Mandela or Ghandi to truly life a purposeful life?
Most of us have misconceptions about what “living on purpose” actually looks like.
Research has taught me what purpose in NOT
- You do not have to change the world
It can be a simple as putting a smile on someone’ s face everyday, being a loving family member, being a mentor for someone at work or honing your skills as a chef. It is all about how it makes you FEEL and not the size of the impact - Purpose is not an obsession
You do not have to have an obsession and focus on one thing to the exclusion of everything else in your life. It is about enriching all areas of life, not detracting from them. - Purpose is not singular
Most of us are not born with one overarching purpose and have to go onto a pilgrimage to discover it. It is all about the intention and passion with which you live your daily life and the fulfilment you get from doing it.
I encourage to look at all areas of life and find the joy in each area…
