Embracing Midlife With Confidence

Meet Liesl

I was born in 1968 in a small town near the Kruger National Park. Like many women, I grew up following a script handed to me by my traditional Afrikaans environment.

This script promised happiness, success, and prosperity, and I lived by these rules for more than half my life.

I never once questioned the prescribed path before me, ignoring the massive void inside… until a crisis hit.

In 2022, at age 54, my seemingly perfect life unravelled before my eyes. First came a professional crisis when I lost a significant career opportunity. Next, an even more profound loss struck when my mother passed away unexpectedly, leaving me with overwhelming guilt and regret.

As if that wasn’t enough, the world seemed to spin further out of control when my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. A deep ache permeated every aspect of my being, and each day became a balancing act of offering support while coping with my own immense grief and stress.

Searching for strength during this storm of adversity, I had a pivotal realisation: This was my midlife crisis.

At this point, when I was more than halfway through my life, I had two choices before me: I could either see these challenges as misfortune or use them as golden opportunities to reinvent myself. I chose the latter.

The Birth Of The Wellderly

As I embarked on my transformation journey, the simple question, “What if?” became my mantra.

I questioned and challenged every belief, habit, and societal script I’d followed, and the results were profound and fulfilling.

Each day brought new discoveries about myself: I remembered forgotten dreams and reignited new passions. This journey revealed a life-changing truth: midlife isn’t a crisis—it’s a catalyst for growth and vitality.

This realisation was too powerful to keep to myself. It needed to be shared and spread.

And so, The Wellderly was born.

Our Mission

At The Wellderly, we embrace the power of transformation, understanding that ageing is a catalyst for growth and vitality.

We believe that our 50s and beyond are the perfect time to learn, experiment, evolve and thrive. We refuse the notion that life after 50 means slowing down. Instead, we see this as a time for gearing up for the most exciting chapter yet.

Our mission is to help every woman ignite her passion for life during midlife and beyond—to see her grow into the most vibrant version of herself.

Together, we’re rewriting the script on ageing. We’re not “elderly”—we’re “wellderly.”

And we’re just getting started.
